Web Home Page: Situated between the old town and the new capital, Lilongwe Nature Sanctuary consists of 120 ha of mixed woodland on the bank of the Lingadzi River. The wildlife of this reserve is surprisingly diverse and includes bushbuck, common duiker, bushpig, plains zebra, serval, leopard and spotted hyena. Crocodile, otter and 14 fish species inhabit the river. More than 2000 bird species have been recorded in the reserve. Location: Central Malawi; north-east of Lilongwe Access: Lies on the main road between Old and New Lilongwe. Accommodation: None. There are hotels in Lilongwe. Other facilities: There is a network of short walking trails; bird-watching hides; an education centre (brochures are available) Open: Throughout the year.
